Athletic Field Crew is a field services company based in West Alexandria, Ohio, west of Dayton. Three owners with hands-on backgrounds in turf management, athletic field maintenance, field construction and restoration run every job, and the same people who quote your field are the ones who show up to work on it.

Most of our work is on baseball and softball fields: infield skins, pitcher’s mounds, batter’s boxes, base areas, warning tracks and the turf around them. We also renovate and install football, soccer and lacrosse fields. How a Baseball Field Renovation Works

Every renovation follows the same disciplined sequence, so nothing gets skipped and the field comes back level, safe and ready for play.

  • Inspect the Field

    Infield, outfield, pitcher’s mound, home plate, bases, warning track and drainage are checked for damage and problem areas.

  • Repair the Infield

    Dirt edges are sod-cut, holes and low spots are filled with the proper infield mix, then the surface is raked and leveled.

  • Rebuild the Mound and Batter’s Box

    Clay or mound material is added where needed, packed down and reshaped to the correct dimensions.

  • Drag and Laser Grade

    An ABI drag smooths the dirt and removes cleat marks; the laser confirms the infield is level and sloped to shed water.

  • Check Bases and Equipment

    Bases, home plate, pitching rubber and other equipment are secured and confirmed in good condition.

  • Final Inspection

    A walk of the entire field to make sure it is level, safe, properly marked and ready for play.

Recurring Maintenance That Keeps Fields Game-Ready

A field that is looked after all season needs far less repair at the end of it. Our recurring maintenance packages are built around the type of field, how heavily it is used and what your facility needs, and can include infield grooming and dragging, mound and base care, lining and striping, fertilization, aeration and overseeding, irrigation checks and seasonal preparation and shutdown. One-time visits are always available too, including a pre-season field maintenance visit before opening day and a spring field cleanup to repair winter damage.
